Nakasendo project

Although the Nakasendo Highway is a government-made road built in the Edo period (1603-1867), it is a fascinating destination in Japan where the road and the cultures and histories along the route from before that time have built up like a stratum and can be experienced.
However, due to the wide area and the fact that it straddles prefectures and municipalities, consistent infrastructure and content have not been developed yet enough.
The ‘Nakasendo Project’ is an development project that takes advantage of the Japan Tourism Agency’s ‘Long Story Project’ to reunite local stakeholders and the tourism resources to make contents and travel products, and to build a regional system for hosting and arranging visitors.
